Two newly installed security cameras in Paarl helped secure an arrest early on Tuesday morning (26 October) barely hours after they were installed.
“We installed and activated the two ‘human detection’ cameras in Bloomsbury on Monday. These cameras are programmed to be activated by any suspicious movement and help alert our control room team to possible criminal activity,” says Warren Cassisa, Paarl branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
It was in the very early hours of Tuesday morning when these cameras triggered their first alert message.
“They picked up an unidentified person walking past them just after 12 am, which raised our concern as this was after curfew,” says Cassisa.
The control room team immediately sent an armed response vehicle to investigate, and despite the suspect’s best attempts to hide he was located and apprehended. A search led to the discovery of drugs and suspected stolen property in his possession.
“Well done to our team for their quick response,” says Cassisa.
