An armed response officer helped a local Constantia homeowner save most of their household items when a fire broke out earlier this week.
“Our officer monitored a message on the local CVIC Neighbourhood Watch radio network, which described assistance being needed at a home fire in the area,” explains Candice Hammond, Cape Town South branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
The officer quickly arrived at the address and helped the homeowner to remove valuable household items, while Fire Services attended to the fire itself.
“We recommend the installation of a fire detection system which can be connected to your home security system. Smoke detectors are also valuable protection tools that should be considered. The sooner you can raise the alarm about a fire, the better the chances that the flames can be extinguished before too much damage is done,” says Hammond.
